If you are genuinely being harrassed then reporting the matter would result inthe telecom provider possibly divulging the details to the authorities - may be if action was taken also to you.

However, it does sound as if you are the victim of what is called silent call syndrom. Typically a company (which is whiy there is no Caller ID) has an automated dialling system which it uses for cold calling and sales etc. Often when they dial, and even though you answer, they have no operator ready to talk to you, the dialer then hangs up.

This sounds like a tele-marketing scheme. A computer phones hundreds of people at once, the first to answer causes the others to go silent when answered. Contact BT and you can be put on the telephone preference service which will stop this.

Don't pick up if it's not a number you know. Let the machine get it. If they're not saying anything then they can't be deemed to be harassingyou. It may not even be one person but some sort of automated dialler, so don't be too paranoid! ;-)

If they don't call straight through they aren't worth figuring out.
