When i was a kid, the dr. told me my ear canal was shaped funny and it trapped water all the time. My mom ended up keeping a dropper of alchol with us whenever I went swimming... here are some other solutions:

Alcohol, rubbing Rubbing alcohol not only kills germs but causes water trapped in the ear to evaporate. See the remedies below under vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar If you notice water stopping up your ears, put three or four drops, diluted in equal parts with water or alcohol, in your ear after showering or swimming. This is a good preventive measure against future infection.

Hair dryer Use the warm (never hot!) setting of your hair dryer and place it about an arm's length from the ear and slowly move it back and forth. Test it on your wrist after it has been running a while before using it on the ear. The warm air will evaporate any trapped water.

Vinegar (distilled white) Put 2-3 drops of full strength white vinegar into the ear every two hours. This will be effective against any bacterial or fungal infection.

• Another similar remedy is to make a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and warm water and apply four drops in the ear three times a day for three days. However, the water can harbor bacteria and fungus. One of the other two vinegar remedies is preferred. Pull on the earlobe to straighten out the ear canal. This will get the drops to their destination. The alcohol may sting, but this needs to be done.

• A third vinegar remedy is to make a 50/50 mixture using equal parts of rubbing alcohol and distilled white vinegar. Put the mixture in a clean eyedropper bottle. The alcohol will kill germs and evaporate any water that's trapped in the ear. Use several drops after swimming. Tilt your head and pull your earlobe to get the mixture into the ear canal. This will help cure swimmer's ear or prevent it from happening in the first place. See the caution warning below.

These remedies can be mixed up in a clean eye dropper bottle.

CAUTION: Consult with your doctor before using these remedies if you have ever punctured your eardrum or had ear surgery (including having tubes inserted).

As an avid scuba diver and ex-navy diver, I can answer this one for you. You need some ear beer, you can find formulas for ear beer on the web or you can buy an over the counter brand for swimmers ear, at any drug store. But the home made solution works best and does not dry your ear canal out as bad. My formula is equal amounts of dis tiled water and white vinegar and alcohol to evaporate the water and to kill any organisms and a few drops of baby oil or sweet oil. Put the solution into a squirt bottle and carry it with you to the beach or pool. Squirt a few drops into each ear, after swimming.

quite a few valid recommendations were made. Peroxide and different drops help loosen wax contained in the ear canal. warm air gently blown into the ear can assist eliminate water, yet be careful no longer to apply too a lot air rigidity and move, or to burn your self. do not chortle on the nostril contained in the ear remark, my mom and father reported the purely ingredient you should position in the ear canal might want to be your elbow. An previous time well being care specialist taught me a a lot less complicated and safer attitude to water contained in the ear. Use a lamp with a 100 watt bulb, the lamp color bumped off. sit with the bulb 12 inches far out of your ear ( with the mild on, for sure) for 20-0.5-hour. It has labored for me and my sufferers

I have that problem whenever I take a shower.

Believe it or not, I use peroxide. Just pour a little into your ear and let it bubble for a few minutes. It works for me. And it also keeps your ears from getting an infection from the water.

every year, after summer, i get this thing wrong with my ear called "swimmer's ear". It happens when you get too much water backed up in your ear..... mostly from swimming.... hence the name.... hahaha..... so last year i tried earplugs for swimming.... they sort of work, but are uncomfortable.... so, here is what i use..... they have eardrops at drugstores to get water out of your ears.... at night, drop some into your ear and lay on your side with the water-filled ear up.... after about 10 minutes or so, put a paper-towel on your shoulder, and sit up, letting ALL the liquid in your ear drain out.... it really works.... you just have to do that every night for a week at the most...... it saves you the pain/money of buying perscriptions for swimmers ear..... grr.... hahaha

Tilt your head in the direction of the ear that is filled with water and hop on one foot.

NEVER EVER stick anything in your ear (cotton, tissue, etc) to get out water, it will only push it further in.
