technically there is little to distinguish MP3, WMA or AAC, they all do a similar job using similar techniques to compress the amount of information.
The differences between the various formats will probably be unnoticaeable over standard (and probably all) headphones, you may notice a difference on a quality hifi system, but the human ear is remarkably adaptive and flexible. And as you get older the differences becoem harder to distinguish as the hearing collapses like the rest of the body. if you listne to music through headphines / earbuds (especailly at high volumes) there is a risk that you hearing will be affected earlier than normal. moral keep the volumne as low as possible / bearable.
The key thing to bear in mind is that you need to make sure you compare like with like (ie check that the sampling rate is similar). a recording with a high sampling rate will outshine a low sampling rate recording anyday.
Personally I'd stick with MP3, as others have advised its an open format it can be played on most devices (I wouldn't use WMA or AAC as these are propriatory) and you may have licensing issues over time (ie when the record industry invent a new means of ripping off their consumers by limiting where you cna play music you have bought legally.

Mp3 is a lot greater perfect than WMA, first of all Mp3 format can in good shape on very just about each and every little thing at the instant. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that WMA can in elementary terms in good shape on the domicile windows Zune participant and domicile windows computers and not CD gamers. WMA, is ineffective and is not often ever used for something.
