Dear questioner:
Your question is very interesting, however it is necesary to know some other data:
For how long have You had that lump before noticing it?
Does it hurt when you press it?
Is there some discoloration (redness or paleness) around the lump you have?
are there any other lumps in the region below the border of the jaw bone? (in the same side)
The inmediate answer could be:"have your doctor, or primary care physician doing an ultrasound of the mass, to determine wheter its a cyst or a solid mass".
If it turns to be a cyst, then do not worry about it.
If you have other symptoms, please ask e again, and I could help You better. Yours sincerely

Sounds like a boil. They always appear underneath the skin and can be a bit painful, depending on it's location. It may go away on it's own, which will take a few weeks. Or if it get's really bad and comes to a surface, it'll have all this nasty stanky pus coming out and you'll then have to go to the doc.

It's more than likely a cyst---not cancerous but worth having a doctor take a look at. I have one at the back of my neck and I am going to get it removed. Slice and go home

Sounds like cervical lymphadenopathy - when I get this it feels like a moveable chocolate button under the skin and is usually accompanied by a viral infection, disappearing after a few days.

Well after a neurosurgeon has given you the wisdom of his knowledge there is no point whatsoever, in me answering this question - other than possibly go and see your gp.

Go see a doctor, this may be a melanoma that can be simply removed, but the doctor will know for sure.
