you can't deny that he didn't do it tho... he is just dirty... by the way, zizou being called a dirty muslim terrorist probably wouldn't cause him to lose control. He would have gotten heaps of that before Materazzi insulted his mother, who had just been admitted to the hospital that evening, and it wuz bad. zidane was also told to have said to materazzi "if you want my shirt, I will give it to you after the game" however, materazzi obviouslyt said much more than that.

Sorry, but I don't understand why I am stupid. How can you say that this is horsesh*t? he did all of that crap and you can't deny it. I mean, how can you still support him?

They are also known to have lied. First, materazzi denied saying that zidane was a terrorist, then he said that he did, but that he didn't know what one was. Also, Grosso: "i tried to avoid neill" when the whole world knows that he dove over him.

haha, i am not even a french fan. I wuz for australia all the way. I just really really really dislike italy. I'm not even australian, I'm american, but our team wuz horrible and there wuz something about the aussies. I don't see how any of the italian fans can be happy with HOW they won. i mean, they cheated against EVERY1...

"erri" your answer is irrelevent. The article was from 70 years ago and as far as what the situations were in which materazzi fouled... Zidane's was in retalitaion, but he didn't try and drive his cleats into matrazzi or elbow him in the face, of which de rossi and materazzi have done SEVERAL times. I know that other players have their share of outbreaks, but that is the worst I have seen. I also don't think that the italian defenders have a lack of skills. They have enough skills so that they don't need to result to violent dangerous means. Finally, materazzi wasn't even injured. If it had been zidane that had gotten "injured", then I wouldn't have thought nuch of it. The italians have already sunk past that point in my opinion. I do not really support the french, I just wish that the italians, for once, could get a tast of their own medicine.

and wot wuz the lame joke about australians not playing soccer until college? ya rite. We basically beat italy. If Grosso hadn't made a lame dive over Neill, then we would have beaten them due to our superior fitness levels. And the aussies are more into sports than any other country in the world. maybe soccer isn't the top sport, but rugby, aussie rules, and cricket aren't that much more popular. And when they do have a team, or there is an aussie game on, EVERYONE is watching it. As far as women's soccer, i dunno how the national team it, but the rep teams in the cities are VERY good. Everyone there plays from early on, and most of the national team players play in europe. They have also just gotten their own competetive league which is MUCH better than the italian leagues because there isn't any diving and the fouling isn't that bad, unless you watch Adelade, lol... The defenders also don't do such dangerous plays. The italians need to be raised to think differently because the wor

Materazzi should be in the dictionary under the entry for red card. What a dirty player! He deserves a good head butting. Too bad Zidane had to hurt his own reputation to do it.

I'm so sick of these cheese eating surrender monkeys. Zidane headbutted a player, resorted to physical violence in football. He took the initiative on that part too, so deservedly went off. Whatever Materazzi said, whatever someone says, you don't get physical on a pitch. Ok got that? It's not that hard to understand, once you wipe the tears away and look at it again. If Materazzi would've smashed im the face first, then got headbutted, you might have a point. As it is, you're a sore loser and that is that.

Materazzi has been known for being a defender who has sometimes attacked opposing players. However, it would be wise to note that many football players also have, in the past, done the same in certain matches. Zidane himself has his own share of fouls.
ngrl06: There hasn't been a formal statement issued regarding the exact words Materazzi said to Zidane.

When are starting you Australians to play football? ;-) College?
I've got TONS of lol during this cup.
Some people out there thinks a defender must be a sportsmanship gentleman.
I've heard almost everything in this WC: sissy Italians. Divers. Cheaters. Insulting. Crying.
Now it seems as you are spotting us as berserker fighters.
Take a life, please ;-)
Italians can't be at same time girly, diving, crying and fighting.
Materazzi isn't the more violent defender in Italy and in the world.
Defender is a dirty job, and involves disturbing opponents.
Haven't you see what's going on in EVERY box all over the world when a corner kick is shooted?
Materazzi hadn't hit Zidane in your video ways. It was an insult and he received an head-butt in return -- If I well remember -- lol
So I don't think anything new, only guess some people could enjoy a pair of news (oldies;-)) about Italian football.
1. The man who speak first when video ends is Pasquale Bruno, 'O Animale' = 'The Animal'. It was 1992 (not sure) when he was sold from Juventus Turin to Torino. In the "derby" he was sanctioned with a red card after being provoked many times from Juventus players. Teammates must stop him from hitting the ref, and really take him away from the field. Banned 8 match.
Believe me, Pasquale Bruno could be frightening to Materazzi too.
2. Never heard about "La battaglia di Highbury"? Here it is a quick read.
The "Battle of Highbury" was the name given to the football match between England and Italy that took place on November 14, 1934 at Arsenal Stadium, Highbury, London. England won 3-2 in a what was a hotly contested and frequently violent match, hence the name.
This was Italy's first match since they had won the 1934 FIFA World Cup that summer, although England had not taken part as the Football Association had left FIFA in 1928. England were still considered one of the strongest teams in Europe at the time, and the match was billed in England at least as the "real" World Cup final. The match was important enough to the Italians that Benito Mussolini had reportedly offered each player an Alfa Romeo car and the equivalent of £150 if they beat the English.
The match was violent from the very start; the Italian centre half Luis Monti broke his foot after a challenge from Drake, and had to withdraw after only two minutes. With no substitutes allowed in those days, the Italians had to play the rest of the game with 10 men. Enraged by Monti's treatment, the visitors repeatedly retaliated against their English opponents: Eddie Hapgood had his nose broken (and had to be withdrawn for 15 minutes), while Bowden damaged his ankle, Drake was punched and Brook had his arm fractured.
Brook missed a first-minute penalty after Drake was fouled by Ceresoli, but promptly turned from villain to hero as he soon scored twice, with a header and a free kick. Ted Drake added a third before half-time to make it 3-0. However, Italy were not World Champions for nothing, and after half time took the game to England. Giuseppe Meazza scored twice, and was only denied an equaliser by the woodwork and a series of saves from England's athletic goalkeeper, Frank Moss.
3. In Italy we start to playing football when children. Basic tactic is "defender isn't a role, it's a blame". Worst players are unallowed to pass midfield, they must stay in the box, trying to stop more skilled forwards in any way. Their lack of skills forces them to bloody fouls, sturdy blocks, and all this stuff. There's a bit of revenging attitude against more gifted players.
If you like to discover something more about Italian children football, there's an old answer linked.
4. Finally.
I don't like insulting. Violent fouls are far worst then insulting, and I disagree with FIFA who banned Zidane 3 match and Materazzi 2. Seems unbalanced to me. Watching the video you linked, I need to ask you: What have it been is Zidane was fouled in the same way? I guess being insulted is so far best than injured ;-)
Don't you?
;-) PLEASE put thing in the right perspective

Really, Materazzi didn't call Zidane a terrorist! But he still said something offensive, and I don't like Materazzi at all. No one said anything against you ngrl, take it easy. I have no love for Materazzi but he made no racist comment at all.

so what is your point? i'm sure there's also a zizou video out there showing all the bad things he has done - or do you think he was a saint?... just grow up, ok?
btw: it wasn't you that was called stupid or speaks horsesh*it but ngrl06... you should better read what people answer to you, but of course you have to grow up first...and of course only grown ups can handle a defeat, you obviously can't.
as for jessica: you're a perfect example of french hospitality. if all the french are as nice as you it doesn't make me wonder anymore that chirac called mr. headbutt a french hero and that the entire nation is proud of him...

so whats your point??? are you saying materazzi plays dirty?? ok, maybe he does. but he didnt do any of that to zidane...all he did was say something...something no one knows....and never will.
so this video is completely irrelevant for everyone except for whiny french fans who are STILL hung up on the fact that france lost.
