People are retarded, apparently. She's in the United Kingdom, not in the United States! No wonder everybody hates Americans; the ego-centrism is fantastically out of hand.
- The age of consent is 16 (both homosexual and heterosexual), except for Northern Ireland, where it is 17.
- You can get married at 16 with parental consent (at 18 otherwise), in Scotland you can get married without parental consent at 16, and in Northern Ireland you can get married at 17 with parental consent (18 otherwise).
- You can order some types of alcohol in resteraunts at 16 (provided somebody over 18 is present), but will have to wait until you are 18 to purchase them elsewhere.
- The legal age for purchasing tobacco is 16, but might be raised to 17 or 18, so keep an eye on the news.
- I have difficulty finding anything on arrest, but it appears that at 16 you are still a minor, therefore cannot be arrested and tried as an adult, but you have passed the age of criminal responsibility (at 8 or 10) and therefore can be subject to the penal code.
- Minimum driving age for car or van is 17, for a moped it's 16.
- Can't vote until 18. :-(
Cheers.

216. Just kidding.
Depending on the state you live in, you may:
Have the right to become emanciated from your parents (given you can prove you have the ability [income] to support yourself *and* your grades are well enough in school.
Have the right to marry without a parent or guardian's consent.
Have the right to get an abortion without a parent or guardian's consent.
Have the right to work full time (40 hours a week or more; most states limit your hours if you are still in school).
Have the right to obtain an driver's license and drive a vehicle (but not obtain the credit to buy one on your own, go figure).
That's honestly about all I can think of right now. At 16 you're still considered a minor in *every* state and your real adult rights (and responsibilities) come about when you turn 18.

Legal rights are the same on the federal level... pretty much they're the same as when you were 15-years-old... Laws change from state to state... On a federal level you're eligible for a drivers license.. In some states you can get married when you turn 16... some state you can get contraception without a legal guardian present.... some states you can get an abortion without parental consent.... some states you are not required by law to attend school anymore.. i suggest looking into your state law to find out what you want.....

Depends where you live. In some US states you can:
Drop out of school.
Give legal consent to have sex.
Get married.
Get a driver's license.
None of these are legal "rights." Rather they are priviledges. That's a big problem with American culture...too many people confuse granted priviledges with rights guaranteed by the Constitution. Of course, many consititutional rights apply no matter what age a person is.

You are still a minor at age 16 but you do have some rights. It does depend on the state you live in, however, what rights you have.

None. You get legal rights when you turn 18. Depending on your state you may get to have "legal" consentual sex. Each state has a different age of consent.

None unless you are emancipated from your parents (legally). In most states you have the ability to operate a motor vehicle but that's not a right.

You get no specific rights unless you become an emancipated teen. (don't do that, you'll get a bunch of responsibilities along with those rights)
You are eligible to obtain a drivers' licence and you may obtain employment. However, these things are not rights.
