Well grounding is always a hit or miss. It usually doesn't work for much except making teens want to just rebel more. What kind of things have you taken away? I would shoot for their most important possession and tell them that you are going to get rid of it if they don't quit the bad behavior. If they continue.....GET RID OF IT. How old are the triplets? How old are their brothers? I don't think soap in the mouth is a good idea. Here are some links about the "soap in the mouth" method.

From my personal experience with my sisters and I (we were brutal to each other when we were younger) family counseling helped best. It is a good way where you can all share your feelings and problems with each other, alone, and with a unbias bystander. Good luck!! Sounds like you have a handful.

Swearing has become way too common in today's world. There was a story about it yesterday morning on the show CBS Sunday Morning. First, they probably hear it at school. And do they hear it at home, like say from your husband? You could try a "swear" jar. Everytime someone in the household uses a swear word (not only the triplets...but everybody including you!!), that person needs to put in a nickel, dime or whatever amount you and your family decide on. When the jar is full, you can decide as a family what to do with the money. Spanking and washing out the mouth with soap will not have any lasting effect. Good luck!! As for the being mean to their little brothers, tell them that their behavior is unacceptable and that there will be consequences if they continue. Think of something that they would really miss and take that away: cell phone; computer/tv time; going out w/friends...whatever.

Don't put up with it.
If any one of them swears then punish all three. Take things away, especially priveledges. No going out. No friends over. Break up the triplets into different areas during the punishment so they can't play together.
Next step is to assign them reading assignments if they continue. They'll be too busy reading to torture their little brother. Be selective in the books to find ones that teach respect or values.
Explain to them that you will not give them any teenager priveges until they act more mature.
Also, make certain you are consistent and fair. Adults should not be using these words either.

Try Smart Discipline. You start out giving them 8 check boxes. The last 3 take away their FAVORITE 3 things. The have a week to use them up. The next week they only get 4 boxes. There are nuances, you can get the book at the link below. They get only 7- 10 rules, these need to be really thought about, correct their worst behavior. Use for 8 weeks. Repeat.

I'm not sure about the soap in the mouth thing, some liquid soap on the tongue might be okay.
Just don't do what my mom did:
I told my younger sister to shut up when I was 11. She drug me in the bathroom grabbed the bar of soap out of the tub, held the back of my head in one hand, and shoved the bar of soap in my mouth, and held it there.
That was too much, it just made me mad, and made me feel like I was getting punished for no reason while my sister got away with murder.

You have to choose a discipline method that will be severe enough to stop the behavior. How old are they? I'm sure if they are not old enough to know to be respectful to you then they are not too old for a spanking. Plus you have to be very strong hearted because the teen years are probably the hardest times for a parent.

You can try grounding them , or taking away privlages...Ipods computer time, game systems. I cant guarentee anything as teenagers pretty much will do whatever when not dicliplined. I know I did.
Talk to them as you would an adult ....teach them about mutual respect, and manners AGAIN. Im sure they know all this but teens can be forgetful as they already know everything .

Consistancy never hurt anyone and works better then anything I have ever tried. Get a tooth brush and MAKE THEM scrub tolites, floors and whatever needs it every time. You have to be willing to be a hard *** and stand there and supervise with the hard looks and the strictness and it takes time outa whatever you are doing but they will learn real fast, and you dont have to raise a finger.
