To me Rap music went downhill right after 1996 (w/ a few exceptions Talib Kweli, Dilated Peoples, J5, etc...)
Pretty much anything that goes on the radio or MTV is straight garbage.

I'm tired of people getting on here and dissing rap. Yes, the style has changed since Tupac and biggie but that doesn't mean it sucks! I hate country music but you don't see me asking "Why does country suck now?". The music has changed, and I'm sure if you looked hard enough there would be plenty of rap artists out there that you liked. I agree that what they're playing on the radio these past few months really sucks but I'm just having to look a little harder for the good stuff.
So why not rephrase this kind of question with one that will not ruffle so many feathers and would actually help you find some good music, you could ask:
" What's some good rap out now similar to Talib Kweli, Dilated Peoples etc..."

Most of the stuff on MTV or the radio is hip hop, not rap. If you want to hear some knew stuff, try Mr. Pookie and Mr. Lucci they are Southern Underground gangsta rap. I just started listenin on it, it sounds pretty tight so go for it.

I know mtv sucks now!I like rock alot better the rap becuase rap just sounds like people talking now!

rap went bad around the time rappers started only rapping about how much money they have and how many women they have sex with. After the deaths of tupac and biggie rap has only focused on the things above.

Rap sucks because you people don't give it a chance.GTA 5 San Andreas is infested with rap.The movie training day was filled with rap,too.It does not suck.

because we lost the old school back in 1990-2000 that was classic years. now if the rappers these days can get back to what it was back then, then it will off the charts.

i totally agree! I wont even listen to the radio anymore because everything on it sucks!!!!
