its not so much, how much you put on, use colors and tones that look natural with your skin tone and hair color, and apply it as you like it. dont dress for anyone but you, i think a real man should appreciate a woman who is confident enough in herself to say she wears her makeup a certain way b/c thats the way SHE likes to have it on.

Less is always the best, here are the reasons why:
1) Less acne break-outs. When make-up is worn heavily and for a long time 8-10 hours, it causes your skin to become oily. The only other way to avoid this, is buying very expensive make-up and scrubbing your face at night.
2) You are less likely to gain wrinkles in the future. Yes, this may be considered not true, but it may very well be. It's better to be safe than sorry.
3) You will look more kissable and cuddle-worthy natural than with overdone foundation. I doubt any guy would want to kiss a girl with caked on make-up.
4) You never have to worry about make-up drippage. Ever gone out during the summer and worried about your mascara or foundation running?
5) Lightings around you won't affect your overall appearance. Take for instance, your foundation might appear as though it is the right color for you in certain lights, rather than others. So you will walk around looking like you have a orange head. >.> Nobody wants that.
6) Cheaper, make-up costs a lot. If you use less of it, what you have will last a greater amount of time and you will look less clown-like.
In essence, most everyone is correct, less is deffinitley more. You can try to make yourself -look- like your wearing less, but then all of the above effects will still apply. Why not tone it down a little? It's better than wasting all of the effort on -trying- to look like you're wearing less.
Helpful hints:
There is no need to put 2-3 coats of mascara on
You don't need to cover your -entire- face with foundation. Try using a sheer powder to even out your skin tones. If you are having a problem with acne, just use foundation on the effected areas.
As far as eyeshadow is concerned, coordinate with your eyecolor. The opposite colors always draw more attention to your eyes and bring out your beautiful natural color. There is no need to match your outfit with your eyeshadow, in fact, it only makes you appear childish.
Blush, very light coats. That stuff can be very very icky if you're not careful.
( I hope I have been good help)

Like most of the people said, less is more. If you want to put any make up on, make it compliment your skin. You don't want bright red blush! Or dark purple eyeshadow! It looks hideous. And for lips, have more natural lipstick. Don't wear those dark colors or like mauve. Otherwise, shouldn't wear much anyways. I see at school all the time with most of the teens wearing makeup all over their face. It looks so cheap and fake. That's not what you're looking for.

Well I'm a woman but I think the secret to wearing make-up is to make it look like you are not wearing any, just highlight your natural beauty with it. I would be interested to see what the guys have to say on this one.

It just depends on the guy. But, most guys like LITTLE make-up on a girl. Too much makes ya look...well,..like a lady of the night. Always try to keep foundation color as close to your natural color as possible, just a hint of blush on cheek bones, eye shadow should have the darkest color in the crease.

I agree with everyone else. Less is DEFINATLEY MORE. The trick is finding the right color liner, mascara, shadow to look natural but still brings out your features. If you have good skin use as little foundation as possible. It just clogs pores and makes your face look caked on.

Guys want to be fooled into thinking you roll out of bed look naturally flawless. Wear what you have to, but don't look like a goth chick! Besides, wearing layers and layers of gunk on your face wrecks your skin and I can't stand feeling like my face is going to fall off when I have on "full face" makeup, so there's two more reasons to go light!

i never understood the purpose of the whole make up thing. men (I) like a woman who is confident with her natural looks. nothing is worse than waking up in the morning a seeing a totally different woman in your arms. It is freaky when they start removing all the add ons for appearance enhancements,
Believe sweetheart: LESS IS ALWAYS MORE!
