Any competent car repair shop can do the brakes in your Audi. If you just need pad replacement, it should be no more than $200 for both the front and rear. Figure on another $100 for each rotor, if you need rotors. For example, if you need the front rotors replaced, that will add around $200 for the parts and about $100 additional labor. (It will certainly cost more at a dealer but I'm talking about a competent neighborhood car repair shop.)

On most cars, the front brakes and rotors wear much faster than the rear brake pads and rotors. Don't automatically assume that the rears need to be replaced if the front brakes are worn. You can save a bunch of money by having only the front brakes replaced.

Finally, replacing brake pads is fairly easy -- you may be able to do it yourself and save a bunch of money. Ask your friends and neighbors... one may be a closet car geek and can show you how to replace the brake pads yourself. It's very liberating to know how to do stuff like this.

I just got rid of my 2000 A4 Quattro. I had my front pads and rotors done at Midas for about 400 bucks. The rotors on the A4 are very expensive. I went to Midas because they offer a lifetime warranty on certain pads. I planed on owning the car longer so opted for these. I drove it for 2 years and 60 thousand more miles on the Midas pads and rotors and never had an issue with them. They are likely WAY cheaper than the dealership. For your to front and rear pads and rotors you may be looking at about 1000 bucks. Call your local Audi dealer first (maybe they have a super sale) and then call some reputable brake shops in your area. P.S. If you are talking about that annoing (( )) symbol in your dash cluster, it may just need pads. Have the shope measure your rotors.

Best to look for some one who works on German cars and will know Audi. Brakes are easy and much the same on all cars however if you find a good shop that does a lot of German cars you can get all your work done by one shop. Look in phone book for shops call a few and ask what type of parts do they use, how long does it take, can you show me old parts, any question you can think of so you feel comfortable with them. Do not just go by price alone, keep in mind you get what you pay for and this is your car, and since cars are usually your second biggest investment(house is #1) why would you want the cheapest???
Value is what you want and you want your car to perform correctly.
