I think its dying down myself. At least I hope it is.
"Single parenthood is a sickness. It means children will grow up to be only half a man or woman." paanbahar - It is NOT a sickness and it certainly does not mean a child will grow up as half a man or half a woman! A single parent has a tough job to do, much tougher than a pair, and if they are responsible enough and mature enough then they can do a fine job. Whats sick is that the absent parent chooses to be absent - even if a relationship breaks down - the absent parent can still stay around for the children - if that person doesn't then that's their choice and thats the sick bit - to father/mother a child and then leave them. The one that stays behind and brings up the children, cares for them and nurtures them gets all the blame and yet the one that runs away gets all the glory - thats sick!
Its not easy being a parent but it certainly isnt an illness and I for one resent that insinuation. I have two children who are loving and caring and well educated. They know what they want, and they know who they are. They are well balanced. And I am a single parent and have been since they were 2 and 3 - perhaps I should have just moved someone in to avoid the stigma that is attached with making the right choice to stand by your kids instead of handing them over the the ex (Thats the easy way out).
Sorry for the rant but this annoyed me.

Divorces were rarely heard of years ago, people just suffered in silence and stayed together to avoid shame. I think it's good to be a single parent and give children a stable enviroment opposed to bring children up in a war zone.

Single parenthood is a sickness. It means children will grow up to be only half a man or woman. they will have problems throughout their lives. Single parents should rent a spouse.
That's why the majority of single parents are depressed.

neither of which are good for children, and by no means should parents stay together when they are not happy, it will effect the children in the long run.
Having both parents is important, whether they live together or thousands of miles apart.
