Its such a lot of media hype.
Scots never have supported England in the Football and probably never will but it seems it was just this year the media decided to step up a hate campaign, even the bbc were seen to fake scenarios to promote the hatred.
Don't the English realise that the Scottish people don't take this seriously and its all banter?

TAFF - The cars gettin smashed that had english flags were part of the BBC set up.
And heres a shock - we don't even take out footie seriously. When we do qualify (like never) we don't EXPECT to go anywhere and just have a laugh! Maybe the English should try that instead of beating up anyone the beats them!!

As a English British person I would have to say I hadnt even noticed the stuff in the press, probably because I just paid attention to the actual football on the telly rather than the s**t written about it in the papers. Hating another country because of football isnt just pathetic its laughable. And you cant judge a whole country or say they have a chip on their shoulder because of a few ignorant people. Obviously there wasnt that much negative feeling in the general area or he would have been afraid to wear the shirt in the first place, probably didnt occur to him or his family there would be somebody pathetic enough to react like that.
Scotland is a beautiful place. The few scottish people I have met seemed ok, Billy Connolly cracks me up, and im always proud to see Ewan Mcgregor, Sean Connory etc get good press. I guess if we all thought of ourselves as British (as I do) this wouldnt be an issue.

Why would English hate the Scots over the World Cup ?
It`s been too many years since Scotland even qualified for the World Cup ,why would their not being in this one cause the English to hate them?
Now the reverse may be true ,the Scots may resent the fact that their team is so shite compared with England that THEY hate the England team.

it wasn't banter when a grown man beat up an 11 year old for wearing an England shirt or when yobs smashed up a car with an England flag flying.It would seem the Scots still have an enormous chip on their collective shoulders!

Course the English don't hate the Scot's over it, we just find it extremely hilarious that they never make it to the world cup, and even when they some how manage it they have never been able to make it past the group stage!!!

Ah. I dunno why but English just don't seem to get on with them. Ask my maths teacher. Poor guy. Oh well.
But I don't think the the World Cup made it worse. I think they just eneded something to fill the papers with.
