I'm not afraid of clowns. I'm afraid of anything in a full-body fuzzy costume. But, really, why hasn't the clown profession died out?

Lots of people request them. In the DC area there is one super-popular kids clown who gets like $300/hr. It was in the Express paper you get at the Metro.

Not that many people are afraid of clowns. I don't know where you get that.

Some like clowns and some don't. I think clown provide a comic relief from a world filled with hate and sorrow. Watching a clown is like watching a sitcom, people laugh at stupid things like getting hit in the face with a pie. The clown profession will never die as long as there are unhappy people to cheer up.

Many people may very well be afraid of clowns. But, most people are not. If being afraid of clowns is keeping a person from functioning in a normal manner, maybe they should seek professional help.

Clowns are the product of extra-terrestrials breeding with Steve Guttenberg. Do not trust them.
By the way, there are enough people who are afraid of clowns to come up with a name for the phobia. I can't remember what it's called

Because enough people realize there's nothing scary about them, and still find them amusing...circuses and rodeos still employ them...as well as clowns for hire for b'days and such...

What's to fear?
