It's one thing to mispell a word here or there, but man, this is horrible. It's bad when you can't understand what someone is writing.

I love the guy down here in the blue hair, trying to be clever. You are too special my friend. Like I said, one word here or there is one thing, but when you cannot understand what someone is writing....jack *ss

3/4 of them, have not graduated jr. high school (most schools are out, so kids are on the computer ALL DAY). Or they are future guests on the Jerry Springer show.

Two reasons:
1) It seems many people posting here may be coming from a background in which English is their second language. They also appear to be relatively young. Spelling errors are thus reasonably unsurprising.
2) Regarding U.S. citizens, well -- the higher education system in the U.S. is the best in the world (that's an objective assessement -- google it). However, the educational system below college level in the U.S. is spotty at best. In fact, it is quite weak overall. When students from other countries come to the U.S., they often far outstrip their classmates in every subject except English.
Two reasons for #2 above:
a) These schools are primarily financed through local property taxes. Rich neighborhoods get good schools & plenty of resources; poorer areas definitely do not. Schools should be primarily financed through federal revenues. Heck, I'd support an "equal education" amendment to the U.S. constitution.
b) Teachers' unions make it practically impossible to fire incompetent teachers. 'Nuff said.

I agree! Is it laziness, or maybe people aren't paying enough attention in school? Actually there are even some schoolteachers whose spelling isn't as good as it should be! Glad to learn that somebody else is annoyed by stuff like this!!

Unfortunately, people who often use the internet lose their ability to write proper english. Laziness has a lot to do with this. It's sad, but it has become a fact of life.

that fact of the matter is that people don't think when they are working on a computer. so don't hold it against us for our misspelled words it is not that we are dumb we simply work to fast, and forget to use our spell check.
