Because, we have to finish this terrible thing that we started. If we simply withdrew right now, it could lead to even more chaos and an increase in terrorism within the country. We have to install a fair government and security system before leaving the area. We are responsible for destroying what they had so we are obligated to do our best to replace it. One excuse on the list of reasons we invaded was to insert a democracy with human rights. We have to stand by our word on that. But, it needs to be put in place sooner rather than later. We need a timetable and a realistic plan for doing this.

This conflict holds much in the balance.
We have deposed Saddam Hussein and are aiding in the formation of a democratic state in the Middle East. This is a major step in that region. The Islamofascists believe they have the right to rule that region and have no restraint in trying to attain that goal.
If we pull out now, we will be abandoning a half-formed government to a bunch of crazed butchers who slaughter their own women and children without regard. When Clinton pulled us out of Somalia it didn't take long for Bin Laden to proclaim us to be "paper tigers". This war on terrorism is a necessity to keep our nation and our allies safe. We are talking about a bunch of armed lunatics who think they have the right to rule the world and they intend to get it by shedding as much blood as possible. If we pull out now, they will laugh at us and regroup for further attacks. Why not? They know that they can attack with impunity and many in the American public and government will cower in the corner. Anybody who states that we should fight will be called a "war-monger".
Let's not forget that our Congress voted to go into Iraq. President Bush did not go into this alone, but he seems to be taking the hack for it. Aside from "We need to pull out!", the Democrats haven't proposed any other solution.
We underestimated the resistance that we would face. Should we turn tail now and run? or should we continue to stand strong and show the world that the sleeping giant from WWII still exists and is still dangerous when awakened.

We need to issue an ultimatum to the sitting Iraqi government that we will be leaving at the end of this year. They need to do what they can in the interim to stabilize the situation, because on January 1, 2007, they'll be on their own.
We gave Iraq the opportunity to become a free, democratic country. They blew it.

Man I couldn't tell you. I think we should come home and let them fight it out among themselves, they do not want us over there. We should come home and work out a way to get independent unto ourselves. They do not appreciate the effort and if we beef up our own countries defenses and stop spending all our money, and money bush borrows for us, on them, we won't have to worry about terrorists threatening our country. We will be invincible once again. We are America after all. or are we? I just don't know any more do you?

because cheney and rumsfeld (architects of war in iraq) made a accidental, tragic, but politically intelligent move by getting up to our eyeballs in quicksand with this whole war. now that we are so totally and completely entrenched it would be a travesty to just pick up and leave. the u.s. lost a ton of clout on the interntational stage by invading. but now that they've created this terrible mess they'd lose even more political clout. it's a catch-22 that u.s. soldiers and (mostly) iraqi civilians are paying for with their lives.

We have freed 25 million Iraqis. If we leave now, before they are able to defend themselves, they will end up oppressed by another dictator. It would be irresponsible to leave with the job only half done.
