I've been there. Australia is more like England and America put together. The slang terms are similar to our's (I'm from The U.K) and the country itself doesn't look too different from the two countries. But it's less crowded.

--It is much more like the U.S. and than our English Father country. However, Australia was a penal colony for great Britain. Which begs a question. How many Brit's admitted committing crimes just to leave England. "Let's see, I can stay in this crappy country with its crappy food and weather or I can have the great barrier Reef and lobsters the size of canoes? Hmmmmm? I'm Jack the Ripper!"
