i read.
i read a lot.
i really liked harry potter (the series) and stephen king
i read mostly science-fiction/horror/stuff i have already read
the last book i finished was called cell by stephen king..it was one i read under the covers in the middle of the night. 1. becasue i didn't have more time. 2. because it makes you scared of that noise you hear even though you know it's just the tree against the window. one day this artist dude is in boston with work. he's standing in line for an ice cream cone when all these people who have listened to a cellular phone call in the last few minutes go crazy. (Pixie Dark: Who are you? Who am I? :then runs into a pole and gets up and does it again as a nude man with a knife runs by) The dude has to stop this mess and fight for justice. doesn't sound good until you read it.
i would definitely recommend this book. it gets you up in the feel of everything and like most of stephen king's works is well written and is a good story.
nice 360

People still read .. I think it's on the rise again since people spend so much time on the computer. Either way ... there are readers.
Favorites include anything by Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce, the Butcher Boy by Patrick McCabe, Friends of the Earth by TC Boyle and Bitten by Kelly Armstrong. You can see it's all about reading, no real genre.
Right now I'm reading How the Irish Saved Civilization about the continuity of literature and art being based largely on the monks in Ireland. My master's was focused on Irish Literature, so this one touched home. I'd recommend it only if you've got some knowledge of the fall of the Roman Empire and Europe following the fall.

First, people do still read books. Take a look every year at the films being released and I can guarantee you that at least half come from books. You have to keep in mind that people now have more leisure options than ever before. Movies, Internet, television, and video games are all new ways modern man can be entertained. Now as to what books to recommend you, that can be a tough one. I suggest going to Amazon.com or any other on-line retailer and searching through different genres to see what you might like. And do not forget your local library. Hope this helps

I am an avid book reader. I can see alot of people out there dont read which is sad because books take us far more placer than movies or the net.
Some of my favorties are - Catcher in the Rye, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, Kite Runner, and A Tale of Two Cities
The last book I read was Night by Elie Weisel. It is a pretty good book. Its about the Holocaust and how Elie survived through it when no one in his family did. It is a true story. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to read the night big novel. It is a great book.
My favortie genres are mystery, political and historical.

It just seems that way. According to reports the sale of books is increasing day by day & millions of publishers are mushrooming all over the world. It's not that people don't want toread they just have not found what they want to read. If a guy likes golf and idolises Tiger Woods then surely he would read a book about Tiger Woods.
I like reading Fiction. I go for Non-Fiction only if it is related to scientific stuff or Business. I hate self help books. Don't ask for recommendations first know your interests and just pick up a random one until you have found the one for you. One person's likings differ from the other. In short, Not everyone loves broccoli but lot of people eat it.

People just don't take the time to sit down with a good book, there's always something else to do. I'm in the middle of reading a collection of Sherlock Holmes right now. I also love Stephen King, and one of my favorite books is 'Still Life With Woodpecker' by Tom Robbins - it's really off the wall and I love stuff like that. Metaphors and all.

I currently have 5 books going. Not that I'm some hot shot I just get tired of reading a certain genre for a while and slip to another. Books let me paint my own picture of the situation whereas TV and movies force you to accept thiers. I like Stuart Woods, John Sandford, John Grisham, Sinclair Lewis, Mark Twain, The O'Neal Gear couple on prehistoric American Natives and books on playing better poker.
