Sending a letter in this situation is lame and probably ineffective.

Try talking to a branch manager or assistant manager first. Explain the situation and why you feel the charges were wrong. If possible, don't ask for them all back - try to be reasonable.

As for the letter ... without knowing your situation none of us could provide a "generic" letter that would be effective.

Just tell them the charges are unjustified for Reason A, B or C. If you've been a long-time customer, ask them to waive them because you have been a good customer of theirs. If they refuse, tell them you'll take your business elsewhere if they don't. If they still don't, carry out your threat and take your business elsewhere.
