The air conditioner in my car doesn't cool well, and I would like to repair it. Is it possible to repair it with cheap costs? What is the problem? Is it the "conditioning gas pipe"? What is it?

I appreciate your knowledge about this issue,, thanks in advance.

That is a very vague condition for an A/C. I've seen everything from the thermostat needing adjusting (if you don't tell it to get cold it won't get cold), having someone turn on the vehicle when they want A/C (You actually have to have the engine running for an A/C to cool and not everyone knows this), having a dirty condenser(wash it out and the A/C starts to cool again), to the standard leak in the system need refrigerant. Best thing is if you don't know anything about A/Cs is to take it to a certified mechanic and have it checked out. Believe it or not, you can actually overcharge a system and it won't cool either. To much refrigerant is just as bad as to little. IF you decide to just add refrigerant please check to see what type you have. All car's in the last decade have used the new refrigerant but if you got a early nineties or earlier car you could still have the old refrigerant in it(Yes there are still cars running around with the old stuff). If you got the old stuff take it to a mechanic to have it changed but if your car is that old it might be time for a new car, but that is a decision outside this topic. More than likely you got the new stuff so it shouldn't be an issue though. If you decide to just put a can of refrigerant in the system just remember a couple things. If it was low you have a leak (it's a closed/sealed system) and what you put in will eventually leak out. If it is a small leak than you'll just need to keep adding cans every year (I can't recommend this action since even the new stuff is bad for the environment and doesn't fix the problem just a symptom). If it is a larger leak then you'll be adding cans more often and it would probably be more cost effective(money and time) to have the system repaired.

Most likely you need your freon refilled. If you have even minimal mechanical ability then you can do it yourself. Wal-Mart sells the kit: a hose w/ a gage, the proper fittings on each end and the freon itself, $27.47. It comes with very clear directions. You hook the can up to the valve and you're done. WARNING: Trying to peirce the can top can be diffucult and cause a disaster. One of the fittings on the kit have a peircer on it, smack that baby onto the can with a hammer and then screw it on quick. I didn't do it that way and freon went everywhere. Freon severely burns!!! It's real easy to do but please wear long pants, long sleeves, gloves and eye protection. Keep dry rags around so when freon gets on the can you can still grab the can. If you're brave enough it's a peice of cake if you can get the freon on the fitting really fast. Please, please dress it's -20, if you chose to do this.

ok, there is no way to tell what the problem is. If you need to recharge your freon, then you can buy a little can with a little hose on it that looks like a fix a flat can and hook it up and squeeze the trigger. or take it to a mechanic, that would be the dumb as s answer though.

You may need to add more freon...you can check the pressure in ur car to see if u are low...go to Auto Zone and u can by the pressure meter there

You can have it recharged. It just replaces the freon. I think that costs less than $100 (not sure). That may help.

Very possible it only needs to be charged with some freon, which shouldn't be expensive. Take it to the shop and ask them to check it.

Needs recharged. They can usually do that where you get your oil changed. It will cost about $100.

sounds like it could be a lil low on freon --have to have it checked by a shop that has a/c gauges

first....bring it to a reputable mechanic....let him put dye in the system...this tells them if there is a leak....if there are no leaks in the sytem, check the compressor....if that checks out fine, evacuate the system and recharge it....
