Currently studying Biomedical Engineering.
Would love to be a newsreporter.
Wanna have my own clothing line, so i'd like to take classes in fashion designing too.
How is this all possible?
Is this too much for just one lifetime?
As a professional engineer, how do i find my place in news reporting?
Are there any books to read to sort of guide me, or could i talk to someone abt this, besides a student advisor?
I don't kno what to do and i feel like each day gone by without resolving this, is a waste of time. Help me out guys.

i guess you have to focus on one thing first..then when you already achieve it go to the next, it's never possible to get all of those in one time. you'll end up not achieving one.focus

I am sure you will cope with everything, IT IS POSSIBLE, if you want it.
It is just about time, you mustn't give up and show that a person can be perfect in many fields simultaneously...
I am sure you will succeed.
I have a friend who is studing Economics, and Dansing as a second major:) she is doing great and she told me that she is on her way to start taking courses in fashion design.

If you like all the thing you do, don't about "if it is difficult" or what the others will say.

I will tell you a little storry:
there were three frogs. All of them wanted to climb to highest tower. So one day they called all of the frogs who lived near them. The three frogs were on the start...they started to climb, all other frogs started to laugh and tell them they are little and stupid and that this is not possible, and that noone have evr climbed on this tower. It's been a while and the one frog fell down. The frogs who were watching started to laugh again - they told the left 2 frogs to give up. It's been a while and the second frog fell down. The third frog refuse to give up, and continue to climb. It was very hard, but finally the frog reached the end of the tower, everyone was amezed, that one little frog could climb such a high tower. When the winner(the frog) came down everybody wanted to know how did the frog climbed this tower. The frog didn'T say a word. Later, everyone saw that the frog was deaf...

That worked as an example you should never ever listen to anyone who will tell you " You Can'T" or "It's Impossible"

Fight for what you want and never hear the disaproving tone of the others.

I hope you will succeed!

Best Wishes!

I'm stunned by the diversity of your interests. If you're going to be a Biomed Engr, you must have Aced both Organic and Bio-Chemistry. Those two almost killed me and I didn't get an A in either one of them. The idea that you're so good in Chem and yet interested in news reporting and right-brained stuff like clothing design! Just amazing!

As other respondents have pointed out, BE's get paid a lot, whereas reporters get paid little. And successful clothing designers, well, can you name more than three? What are your chances?

I agree with the others: View clothing design as a hobby. If you just have to be a reporter, leverage the Bio knowledge by writing for the many professional journals in that area.

How old are you? An answer for a 24-year old doesn't apply to a 14-year old, and vice-versa. If you're in high school, I'd advise you to just relax on this subject; study hard and get into college. If your mid-college, I'd echo another respondent and suggest "What Color is your Parachute". If you're in grad school, finish up your Ph.D. in B.E. and get on with that career.

You know, don't think you have to do everything today!!! News, you know what you are a professional engineer, so you could try to look for something in a magazine, or a specialized newspaper for that industry......start by looking into magazines that are about Biomedical Engineering, you could start by applying everything you know for articles, and news for those magazines, also your school newspaper, or any newspaper for all those Biomedical Engineers out there.....About fashion, you know you can always have that as a hobby....you could start clothing line even if you work in engineering all day, but I would recommend to take on one thing at a time, that way you don't get overstressed and give up. Why don't you try to start with the news thing, and later on in life when you are already established you can take on fashion.....meanwhile, take it as a hobby, create a file with all your ideas, drawings, and inputs so you can always have it, and when you are ready to come out with your line you are going to have in that folder half of the work done. Books to read???? Personally, I don't think there is a book to tell you exactly what you have to do, that's impossible because we are always growing and changing what we want out of life.....so my advice is take one thing at a time, start exploring your options, don't think you can't have it all because you can, but if you try to take it all at once you can probably feel like you can't do it, or you will lose interest, so first start by looking into the news thing. Come on, biomedical engineering, you should have a lot to write about, so just start looking into where you can publish an article or two, and grow from there, maybe end up with your own news show about biomedical engineering onw day. But you have to look for it, because it is just not going to look for you. Good luck with everything you want, I am pretty sure if you pace yourself you can have it all......and remember, our souls feed of our dreams, so don't give up.

It's all possible, and you never know where life will lead you. Follow your heart and let God take care of the rest.

For instance, you could find yourself writing articles for a newspaper or magazine on engineering-related topics. You could find yourself designing clothing that would have a biomedical slant - shirts that monitor blood pressure, for instance.

No education is wasted, and all experiences are valuable. Stay open to the possibilities!

The other thing to keep in mind is that you don't have to stay in one occupation for the rest of your life. Personally, I'm on my fourth: optician, stockbroker, academic advisor, now librarian. I find that all of my former occupations and experiences come in handy at the most surprising times. You never know .....

I say go for it girl!!......this is the same dilemma i am having ..but I am determined to do it all. I want to be an entreprenuer, I am finishing up my business/entreprenuer degree for this purpose, inbetween college I studied to be a medical assistant, am getting my real estate license, and also going for costmetology.

Like you I want to do more than one thing in life..i want a variety so that when I get bored with something..or just need to make some money on the side i have the talent and skills to do it. Your not a lost soul..your a creative, restless soul...and there is nothing wrong with that just try to put them in order and see how it all can fit you life..if you can knock out two birds with one stone then do it!...

I HATE THE TRADITIONAL LIFE AND THE TRADITIONAL WAY OF DOING THINGS!!..WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO CONFORM?.....and nothing is ever too much for one lifetime...YOU ONLY HAVE ONE LIFE TO LIVE..SO WHY NOT LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST!!!.....

MY ADVICE..DO IT ALL...AS LONG AS YOU ARE BLESSED WITH AIR IN YOUR LUNGS EACH MORNING..YOU SHOULD DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!..

MUCH LOVE TO YOU!

Prioritize what you want to be in the next ten years. Would you rather have a good paying job? or would you rather be a reporter? or own your clothing line. I should say take the first one then the rest can come in later when you have enough money to go for what you want in life. Once you prioritize what you want then go for it.

If you want a book, What Color is Your Parachute is a good one. You are doing a very typical thing called finding yourself, which is perfectly normal. You are not wasting time, just growing up. Good luck in whatever you choose, even though you don't need it. You sound very ambitious.
