I have been added by this guy on msn (accidently - wrong email address inputted because he wanted to add some other girl he met online apparently) and turns out he used to live in the same area and go to the same school as me and was in the same year as my older brother...
he says that he left that school early so didnt manage to get to know people that well and i questioned him a lot and his answers seem to be quite accurate and correct
its funny because i am naturally a very inquisative and suspicious person and i didnt give him any clues who i was at all - he came out with the info first and then i gradually asked him questions to see if he would answer correctly...
is this sheer coincidence or something suspicious?
i am on a mission to find out but i dont know what else to ask!
any ideas on what i should do to find out?
and for those people who have answered this before, i didnt get many replies so i posted the question again in the hope of getting more ideas :)

I guess it depends on how detailed the questions were that you asked, but I think you have a pretty good chance of he being who he says he is. Be careful, though. Try to verify his identity with your brother or someone else.

look at it this way, how many users in your email provider? let's just grab some numbers out of the air, i don't want to do the search. but for the sake of argument let's just say there are 20 million yahoo email addresses. (someone@yahoo.com). with that in mind, and considering yahoo as your provider, you stood a 1 in 20 million chance of getting this mail. but stop. there is also a high probability that your subject would have misspelled (as in osmeone@ yahoo), now we're talking 1 in billions of chances.
in other words there is a higher probability that you would win your state lottery 100 times than for this to have happened by accident. and that's just the beginning. we have yet to factor in the proximity thing, nor the number of schools or students in those schools and on and on.
so based purely on mathematical probability there is a better chance that you will win the lottery every week for years on end than that this is accidental. coincidence? unlikely.

sounds like its someoene that knows you already, an ex maybe trying to trick you or get info on you, i really dont think its a coincidence at all to be honest its someone playing games for sure had alot of expierence with it to be honest had it done to me a couple times, its not nice slightly freaky but the chances of it actaully happening on msn like its happened if it were true are multi millions to 1 sadley

Well....find out his name and look him up in your brothers yearbook...and then ask your brother and other people that you know about him and go from there gathering more info.

i ought to in my opinion be doubtful if someone further me, then tried to assert it became the incorrect digital mail addy, yet co-by the way "virtually" is widely used with you. take care of it with the suspicion it advantages, and delete him.
