Arguments i've heard:
1-It should be the womans choice and no one elses
2-If abortions are illegal, women will run the risk of dying by havind someone who is not professionally trained do it
3-It is an expression of freedom of choice
4-If i don't want the baby, i shouldn't have to carry it for 9 months
5-The fetus doesn't feel pain nor does he have the mental capability to make a choice
6-The fetus would not survive with out the mothers aid
These are all arguments i've seen from pro choicers of why abortions are great. To me it seems that pro choicers are only concerned with the welfare of the woman or themselves and not of the child, self preservation in it's rawest form. If it causes health issues then that's a different argument, but if it's a normal pregnancy, then there is no justifiable reason to kill the baby, the only reason i see from pro choicers is self preservation.

I don't think many pro choicers will argue that abortions are great. I think they're pretty bad, but I also think it's a choice the woman must make. Sometimes it's the lesser of two evils.
And regarding point #2, you do NOT want women to have to resort to coat hangers in back alleys. Because it WILL happen and it DOES happen in other countries. Is that of no consequence to you?

1. Roe V Wade says it legal
2. Look at past history before Roe V Wade this is true
3. That's an opinion
4. Roe V Wade says that's true regardless of any ones view
5. Science says that's so
6. That I wouldn't know
Your bias is showing Pro Choice does NOT say abortions are GREAT. Your correct that the welfare of Mother is only thought with Pro Choice which is sad since Father has no voice in manner. If baby was born Father would be expected to pay for 18 years. Health issues so your view is then it would be OK to abort? What health issues? Where do you draw the line? Self may be motivation however many of these children would have terrible lives if they were born. I have never had an abortion and have five wonderful children but your views are slanted without looking at them correctly. If abortions were illegal then back alley coat hangers abortions would take place and unwanted children in foster care (already over crowded) would double if not triple! I am not saying abortion is answer I merely ask you look at whole picture. I wish I had an answer I don't and I am not saying abortion is. However its their choice NOT ours like many other choices we face over our life.

You know you are asking for a debate here. Personally I feel it is a womans right and no one should have a right to stop abortion. It is something however that should be regulated I personally think some women use it as a form of birth control. I believe there should be a national database with names and a thumb print. And a limited amount of abortions that should be done on each woman. After that they should be forced to have a tubal. Now look at abortion this way and make a decision. If your mother/sister or young daughter got raped or sexually molested and got pregnant. Would you would force her to carry that child? Knowing how it was concieved? Would you argue abortion then? Think about it?? It takes more energy to argue about some thing every woman has a right to. Instead of causing a debate put your energy to something better like regulating abortions. Better sex education in our schools, better parent intervention information is the educator

How about this one, What if a young woman gets pregnant by accident? Lets say the condom breaks, that's not her fault, but now she's forced to make a decision. She is young, inexperienced but smart enough to know she won't be able to raise this child properly. She doesn't have the financial means to raise a child, it would be a bad family situation since she has to work all of the time and would not have the time to care for the child... this child will grow up with severe mental problems due to this.
What is in the child's best interest now? Let it be born into this terrible situation? or abort it before it becomes anything more than a mass of cells?
Subtract god from the issue since god doesn't exist... look at it from a causal argument... what are the negative effects of either course and which is the lesser of two evils?
1: having the child - bad childhood, lasting emotional and cognitive consequences, lack of opportunities later in life.
2: abort - one less person in the world.

I'll pose a question to you.........what about in the instance of RAPE? Do you feel a woman must carry and deliver a child conceived from rape? I know.........the child didnt choose how they were concieved............But the woman also didnt choose to be violated and made pregnant. I also don't see anyone calling abortions "Great". Pro-choicers want abortion legal for many reasons........one being prevention of back alley abortions.........that is a reason alone to keep them legal! And pro-choicers obviously dont believe it is murder..........so you will probably never understand why we choose the way we do........because you are not able to be empathetic to our view point. Have a nice day.

Would you rather the child be born into a home where it is unloved, hated, neglected, is told THEY are the reason mom/dad is unhappy? Not all kids are taken from their parents when they ought to be. Some people think that even if they don't want it, it is still their propery and they don't want anyone else to have it. Some people are forced by family to keep the baby even though they don't want it. What about people from f-cked up families? Sure, give the baby to psycho-grandma or childmolesting uncle or abusive dad. Sounds brilliant! And they are always the families that refuse to let you give the baby up for adoption. The kid is going to want to kill itself later in any case, Why not prevent suffering, neglect, overpopulation?

I can understand why pro-choicers think this way, but I'm still against abortions, unless in health or rape cases. But if its just because you didn't want it, well, that could've been prevented before.

I'm glad that abortion is legal and I hope it stays legal. I'm old enough to remember women dying trying to abort babies when it wasn't legal. Legal or not woman have had abortions in the past and will have them in the future. End of discussion as far as I'm concerned.
***F.Y.I...no I have never had an abortion myself.

Pro-choice is a not-so-secret way to keep women from being opressed by having men in the white house tell us what to do with our own bodies. Sorry to break it to you, but that's all it is.
