Call your ob/gyn to be sure but usually you can go swimming right away if you had a regular birth, no tearing and are not at risk for infection, as well as if you are not currently bleeding (unless your doctor allows you to wear a tampon at this point and time). The chlorine itself is a disinfectant but can cause irritation to an open wound if the pool is freshly treated.

My best friend just had her 8th child on the 11th. Usually she goes to the beach or in a pool a week or so later. Just shower good afterwards. Depending on how strong the chlorine is, chlorine is a cleanser/ a form of bleach so to say, your stitches may sting a little, but this is a sign of healing. If it's too irritable, get out of the pool............

Ask your doctor. But I would at least wait until the stitches are out.14 days

It's best to consult your doctor about this...because if you had a Cesarean birth, or had to have a vaginal incision (episiotomy)...you should avoid water...especially chlorinated

?The only reason you would not be able to is bleeding. You should not be using tampons at this point -- if you are not bleeding -- you are good to go
