I have relatives in San Jose, who tell me about some crippling heat the last few days.
What are your experiences with this? Is it that bad? Do you fear blackouts or brownouts ensuing from the airconditioners all running? How safe is outside really?

I'm just trying to picture what they are telling me...

I live in Pleasant Hill but have been staying in Martinez for the last week and yes, the heat has been HELL. It has been over 100 degrees for the last week or more. and at my house in Pleasant hill, the power went out 2 days ago so they don't have any air conditioning. yesterday it was 108, the day before 110. this is just rediculous - STOP GLOBAL WARMING!! We're dying here.

I'm in Sacramento. It was 111'-113' on Saturday, and supposed to be 110' today. 4 people have died from the heat, but one was a very old person. The other three were 28, 35 and 50 years old. It is also muggy ( humid ) and there is no Delta breeze, which means the Bay Area is also hot. They ask us not to run the A/C, -right.

I live past Palm Desert in a tiny town by the prisons and yesterday the temperature was 123. It has been in the 120 this complete past week and it isn't even August yet. The temps get to 130 then. Yes it's a dry heat mostly but when the humidity kicks in it's death!

In Southern California we are having very humid weather and a very high heat index. Temperatures are reaching triple digits. We are experiencing thunderstorms and lighting. It reminds me of the summer storms in the Midwest. Usually during a normal summer here, we have just dry dessert heat; but the humidity is the kicker. Many fires in the forest and on the island Catalina have been started by lighting strikes. In live in a beach city; and its even worse inland.

I was in Palm Desert and the Inland Empire this weekend and I thought I would melt. It was no cooler than 107 all weekend, with lightning and thunder. L.A. is pretty uncomfortable too and we have to watch out not to have our air too high (78 or higher) or we risk power outages. Blackouts kinda suck but I don't "fear" them.

Basically it's crazy hot and sticky.

don't fear blackouts, but it is pretty freakin hot, I'd say mid 80's, air conditioners and fans are running, hard to sleep at night because it's still hot

Sh*t the weather is hotter than a devils underpants. It's really hot, like tripple digit hot. Let me just put it this way some parts of LA blacked out yesterday and nocked out the severs for myspace lol. Kinda did some of us a favor lmao.
