The county clerk's office or office of Deeds.

Most offices allow anyone to go in and requst the lein holders on ay property. You will get the name of the owner, the lein holders and any claims of deed which have been filed. From this you can create a history of the property and find ot what it's status may be.

Go to www.zillow.com and enter the street address. You'll at least get a general price estimate. That might be a place to start.
