First, you might want to ascertain if the bump is really visible; the side of the nose is a difficult place to spot a skin imperfection, and it's possible that someone a few inches away might not notice at all!
...but you probably asked this question because its presence is bothering you, and you want to get rid of it.
What you want to do is apply heat for around five minutes; this helps imperfections rise to the surface of your skin quickly instead of over time like they usually do. Use a heating pad or a washcloth repeatedly dipped in warm water. Alternatively, take a long, hot shower or use a self-warming face-mask. (I find the heating pad works the best.)
Then, apply a 10% over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide acne medication such as Clearasil. (Benzoyl peroxide helps to treat existing acne, where salicylic acid helps to prevent future acne.)
Wash your hands, and then place your fingertips on either side of the bump. Using both your fingertips, pull the skin gently *away* from the bump. (don't push *toward*, that might damage your skin and cause further problems.) If the bump is "ready," it will expel its contents. If not, you have three choices:
1) If you're feeling antsy and really want it to go away, try starting at the beginning with the warm compress again.
2) If you're reasonably confident it'll subside on its own by this point, make sure you put on plenty of whatever benzoyl peroxide treatment you chose before bed; if you're lucky, it'll be gone tomorrow.
3) If you're worried about how it'll look, apply a green-tinted concealer to 'cancel out' the redness of the bump, and a little foundation and/or powder to blend it in with the rest of your face.
Here's hoping it goes fast!

If you take a warm towel and put toothpaste on it and hold it to the bump for about 10 minutes. You will see the bump get really soft and come to a head so that you can bust it the proper way. After that take two q-tips instead of your fingers and pop it. Then when you finish dabb it with alcohol and some clearskin blemish creme and you will be good to go.

nope, how old are you? about 15 ...i bet. when i was that age my face would never break out, but yet and still i would get a big, huge, pulsating (lol) bump on my nose. they were so stubborn and i just had to wait it out. i tried bursting them but it only made the appearance of the darned thing worse. to top that off, i was dubbed Rudolph (for my red nose! AHHHH!) so embarrassing. anyway, not like then, try some neutrogena on the spot acne treatment to at least try to shrink that bad boy ...until then, Good Luck!

Welcome to my world, sorry you dropped in. I get those kind of bumps all the time in the most awkward places, once I had one on the tip of my nose, it was big, red, hot, and very painful, I looked like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, I was so SHAME! All I could do was let it go away on it's own, I was scared that if I messed with it that it would get bigger. Good Luck to you and God Bless!

If you think it is a zit you should steam your face and clean it very good then wash it with a good face cleaner and rinse with cold water. then when you get ready to go to bed steam your face again and this time just take a little dab of tooth paste and rub on the area do not wash it off until the next morning. by morning it should be ready to pop or have disappeared. If it is ready to pop be gentile while popping it, once it is popped wash your face one good time and you should be ready to go with no mark and no bump.

Depends on what the "bump" is. If it's a cyst under the skin from stress, you'll have to wait it out. You can put ice on it to reduce swelling. If it's a regular zit (and it's ready to pop) use a hot, wet washcloth to steam that area. Then use a sterile needle (No straight pins! They have lead in them.) to lance it before squeezing. I know it's gross, but so are zits on the face. :)

sounds crazy but preparation h is a powerful antiinflamatory that works on those big underskin zits. And don't try to draw it or squeeze it. Get it to go down on its own so it doesn;t scar or turn red.

Try a hot compress and hold it very firm on the blemish, it could dissipate or come to a head.
