Traditionally, the middle name of a baby boy should be the father's first name. If your friend doesn't wish to do that, then I would find an "N" middle name. I think the letter "N" at the end of Talen and a middle name that starts with the letter "N" would flow nicely together.
For Example:
Talen Nicholas
Talen Noah
