I think he definately was but now he is getting old (and that is of course why he retired, he wants to leave on top which I think is admirable). However, he has a temper problem and a player that allows himself to lose his cool and get ejected from a World Cup final can never be the greatest player in the world no matter how much he was provoked.

He is definitely one of the best! He had a glorious career, it's so sad it had to end that way. But people will always remember him as a great football player, Materazzi cannot take that away from him! Zidane is great!

Except now people are laughing at his metrosexual headbutt of a guy's chest (honestly, who does that?). He's the (head)butt of jokes so I don't think that happened to Pele who is the world's greatest footballer.

no, there are a lot of better players: take the whole argentina team!!!!! and a lot more players. you can't notice zidane for the whole year in his club.

I dn;t think that youcan really judge that... but I think that he is one of them.
Materazzi wuz just messed up. some of his grease rubbed off on zidane and exploded.
