Sometimes when we get less sleep on certain days or we are more active. My was bad then died down then got heavy again..I was like what....but it was just from allt he stuff going on. Yes it does smell discusting, but that is all part of the deal. Sometimes it is stronger depending on what we eat or drink. Just ask your Dr, but in all three pregnancies i had that happen and it was normal...good luck

Is it normal to have bleeding after delivery?
Whether you give birth vaginally or by c-section, you can expect to have some vaginal discharge, called lochia, after you have your baby. For the first few days the lochia will be bright red and look like a heavy menstrual period, consisting largely of blood and sloughed-off tissue from the lining of your uterus. It may come out intermittently in small gushes or flow more evenly. If you've been lying down for a while and blood has collected in your vagina, you may see some small clots when you get up.

If everything proceeds normally, you'll have a bit less discharge each day, and by two to four days after you've given birth, it'll be more watery and pinkish in color. By about ten days after the birth, you should have only a small amount of white or yellow-white discharge, mostly composed of white blood cells and cells from the lining of the uterus. This may continue for a few days or up to several weeks.

How should I manage it?
Take it easy, get as much rest as you can, and don't overdo it. In the beginning, use the heavy-duty sanitary pads that the hospital gives you and, if you haven't stocked up already, buy more pads when you get home. As your lochia tapers off, you can switch to mini-pads. Don't use tampons for at least six weeks because they increase the risk of infection in your vagina and uterus as they heal.

How can I tell if my bleeding indicates there's a problem?
If bright red spotting reappears after your lochia has already lightened, it's a sign that you need to slow down. If you continue to spot after resting in bed for a day call your midwife or doctor. You should also call if:
• Your lochia is still bright red four days after your baby's birth

• Your lochia has a foul odor or you come down with fever or chills

• You have abnormally heavy bleeding (saturating a sanitary pad in an hour or blood clots bigger than a golf ball). This is a sign of a late postpartum hemorrhage and requires immediate attention.

that sounds about normal. I think I bled off and on most of the 6 weeks after having my daughter. as long as you're not passing huge clots or soaking a pad an hour or are running a fever, you should be ok.

dark lochia is normal..It does taper off then come right back I think it;s our bodys way of telling us we are doing too much Expect it for up to 6-8 weeks...hemmoraging is rare..just take it easy and expect it for a while yet..

I did that a couple of times with all my kids. He'll probably tell you it's fine. Are you breast feeding? Sometimes it gets worse when the baby is latched on and sucking.
