Boredom isn't a real thing. It's what you percieve and how you do things. There is never not anything to do or enjoy. It's a choice that you are making. You're choosing to be bored and you see yourself as doing nothing and placing emotions with it because you you are comparing it to people who are doing something or having "fun". While you sit there and think about all these other people with so many things to do you are essentailly doing something but believing yourself to be bored with nothing to do.
A philosopher will look at boredom as lack of things to do and not doing enough but the point is to think is doing something and joy is placed on this simple thought to dispel boredom.

Goes bowling, maybe has a bite to eat and stops at the strip club if his wife is out of town. Doesn't tip too heavily though and goes home to fall asleep on the couch watching the least boring movie on cable.

You are talking about someone who thinks all the time about everything. How would a philosopher get bored? Lock them in a dark soundproof room until they run out of things to think about?
