Starting a Naruto fanfic..need ideas on how to start it off..?

hey im starting to write a Fanfic from Naruto..but its going to concern my character and Kankuro you know gaaras brother..and its going to be a romance/action/adventure/comedy i do have a few ideas on how to start it off but im asking a few people for their ideas my character is named Kitari and shes a ninja..duh..i just dont know where to go from there im literally clueless..i have a few good ideas but i dont think theyre really good enough cuz ive used them before in other stories..id really like to hear other peoples ideas..and Kitari has a bit of an attitude..but deep inside shes really nice and kind..so i need your ideas..if you have any other good ideas email them to me at [e-mail] thanks

oh..and Kitari has long black hair with purple highlights and has blue eyes..i dont know what kind of village she should be from just yet..im still trying to figure that out..

i do have a picture of her on my computer already..but her hairs up in pigtails..so i might have to change that...shes about 15 and shes a genin..i think thats how you spell it..the storys a bit AU..and i think i might make her from the Village hidden in the sound..or mist..i cant really decide..she wears all black..sometimes maybe a bit of purple or blue..maybe almost like Ino's outfit..but not the same colors as Ino wears

oh..and her fighting style is still unkonwn...i might just get lazy and make her have certain powers that i make up or something..but she still needs to use chakra...

one more thing...i chose her name cuz my friend thought of it..and i am a Mary Sue writer..i dont write stories with already made characters with already made characters...it makes them way too boring...so..it doesnt matter if my character has a name that doesnt mean anything in japanese...and AU to me means somewhere in the anime..like not the current timeline sort of thing..the characters will all be In Character..

oh...and i am good in english..i just type very fast and i use abreviations all the time so i dont take up much space...ive been getting straight A's in english for a long time now....

in the later chapters kankuro becomes a jounin so why not tie that in, he can be your squad leader and you develop a crush on him. play it up to current events in naruto if you know them if not you can ask me at [e-mail]

I've been in the fanfiction reviewing business for a long time now, even joined GodAwful.net before the thing went on the fritz and sent me away, and I believe you should carefully heed my advice when writing your story, especially pertaining to your character as she is already teetering upon the line of Mary-Suedom.

1. Don't give her special, original powers. Trust me on this. You start with one special power and soon you will be, like all authors, conjuring up absolutely bizarre ones. Just follow the Naruto originals. There are a lot of them, I'm sure you'll do fine with those.

2. DO have her come from an already-established village. There is nothing more disparaging than seeing every character come from "Village of the Hidden Rainbows and Bunnies".

3. Even though some of the things in Naruto stretch things quite far when it comes to reality, high lights didn't exist during Japan's ninja period. You look at any Mary Sue and I guarantee you most have highlights. Step away from the dyes and just keep to one specific hair color. (Black is the traditional Japanese color and would really work quite fine.)

4. Keep Kankuro and all other characters in-character. AU or not, they MUST act the way they normally do in the series. Changing it would invoke such a wrath from the sticklers like you wouldn't believe. Of course all fanfiction authors can take some liberties (in my one fanfic on FF.net; Abomination, I make Wolfwood have homosexual feelings toward Vash), but the characters must have their own attributes somewhere in there.

5. Get a beta reader, particularly one that is a fan of Naruto. Your English is not perfect and, if the above things you've written are any proof of that, you do need a beta to help you. A good one will only correct the real mistakes and then leave you a list of suggestions, therefore still leaving the ultimate power to you: the author.

6. The longer a story takes you, the better it usually will be. Abomination took months for me to write because I researched every little thing about Trigun and checked all slash fics to see if my concept was overused. Research Naruto. Don't just go by what Wikipedia and NarutoFan say, delve past it to the harder fans and learn what they believe Kankuro to be like. Study the manga and anime from how he looks to how he acts and speaking style.

7. Nice name, by the way. Though it has no real Japanese meaning, "kita" means "north" and the Japanese often use the words of the cardinal directions and add something extra to make it sound "pretty".

Make a photo of her, like draw one.... duh, Name, Age, Village, Fighting Style, Rank, Outfit, and Tell us about her. That's all that I know to tell you.

I made my own as will. Her name is Hatake Heisei. Her father was the second Hokage and she married Hatake Kakashi. She is also the same rank as Kakashi. Her mother was from the same clan as Itachi and Sasuke, so she also has the Bloodline Limit like them. That's all that I'm telling you about her. I want to keep the rest for later. You will find it in my Yahoo 360 blog after I'm done with the details.

P.S. Ok, so her fighting style is still unknown. You can have that put into her faighting style thing and make everyone guess. lol. My characters a copy ninja, but she does have some moves that are hers. Like the The Sharingan (Copy Wheel Eye) Bloodline limit and some other's that I'm not saying.

How about they meet at a restaurant then they met at a tournament then they stay at the same inn? you can branch off from there.
