My favorite new author is David Mitchell. His novel "Cloud Atlas" is worth reading if you like Foer. It is a Chinese box of stories written in a variety of styles parodying everything from 18th Century seafaring adventure to fin-de-siecle "art" novels to Nancy Drew / Kinsey Milhone to futuristic science fiction, all connected by a serious theme and a few other interlocking details. His latest is, on the face of it, more conventional. "Black Swan Green" is the story of a 13 year old boy growing up in England in the 70s, told in 13 chapters, and the details are wonderful.

You might also enjoy the new novel "Absurdistan" by Gary Shteyngart. It has some tings in common with "Everything is Illuminated" -- mostly that it is funny and not set in the US.

i'd ought to have some counting at this sort of e book. Sci Fi/ fantasy: Piers Anthony - you should be an fantastically good author to write down over 30 books in a unmarried magical international and nonetheless have human beings begging for more effective. action/ adventure: Michael Crighton - Jurassic Park, Spehere, Congo....want I say more effective? Romance: Danielle metallic - no longer to tacky yet nonetheless sufficient in case you want a sturdy cry often times. Horror/ mystery: Stephen King - the perfect man or woman to make you ask your self what's less than your mattress...

EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED was very interesting. A rare example of magical realism from an American author. Toni Morrison writes quintessentially in this style.

Current favorites:
Richard Ford
Jim Harrison
Yukio Mishima
Emily Raboteau
