Would you tell the truth even though you knew it would hurt you or another? Or would you lie to save your a$$, if you knew no one would ever find out the truth?

OK, I didn't intend this to be a religious question. But since some of you brought God up....Didn't he state in the Bible after the flood that he would not flood the Earth again, when in fact thousands of people are dying each year from the effects of floods. So? Wouldn't that be a lie from Himself? I am not religious, in fact I am an athiest. This was only an informal question to prove how imperfect we as humans are, and now religious or not, people will lie given the right circumstance to suit they're own personal needs. I have, you have. Admit it.

If telling the truth would hurt someone else I would probably lie. If the only one hurt by the truth would be myself I would probably tell the truth, thereby also considerably easing my own conscience.

I would probably lie if it was going to hurt someone, and if I KNEW the truth would never get out.

hurt myself or another? I'd rather tell the truth eventhough it would hurt myself
but if it would hurt another? Than i have to think twice.
And if its for a REAL GOOD REASON than i might chose lie, but i call it White Lie cuz i try to protect sum1's feeling.
The last thing that i'd do is hurting sum1 else.
Cuz knowing i'm hurting sum1 else makes me feel hurted much more..

Hello, and thank you for reading this
letter. You see, there is a starving little boy in Baklaliviatatlaglooshen who has no arms, no legs, no parents, and no goats. This little boy's life could be saved, because for every time you pass this on, a dollar will be donated to the Little Starving Legless Armless Goatless Boy from Baklaliviatatlaglooshen Fund

I would tell the truth, knowing that if I told the lie to cover my own behind, I would forever be looking over my shoulder.

Also, holding the moral highground feels good, don't you think?

I might tell a lie to spare someone's feelings.Other than that, I do my best not to lie. Even if no other person knows, God does.

It really depends on the impact. I'd lie to save my *** from getting death penalty for example, but I won't if it's just a car accident.
