There are two year schools for registered nurses, many are run through hospitals and community colleges. This would give you an associate degree in nursing. Check with local colleges and hospitals or do an on-line search for where they have the program near you. You would want to get the information as soon as possible if you are looking at starting next fall, the classes fill up quickly. I know that some give an entrance exam and some want an essay as well as your application. The prerequisites for the programs I have looked at are Chemistry, high school biology, high school algebra and if they don't give the entrance exam they want an ACT score. I am taking chemistry this fall and will apply to the nursing program in the spring. I don't know what you mean about needing a certificate for nursing school, you shouldn't need anything but the prereq's. I hope this helps.

You need an associates degree in science or a bachelors degree in science first, then you can apply to a nursing program. Be prepared, these programs are very full, and have sometimes a 2 year waiting period or more, unless you are considered a minority perhaps, or if you are bilingual, or have an amazing gpa.
