My daughter is 15 months old. I'm very new to all this baby stuff and think I have done pretty well for being 31 and the first time around a baby. I'm a little nervous about potty training. When do you start and how? What kind of potty chair do you get? I have no clue!

With potty training, it varies from child to child. Some are ready earlier than others. What I have learned is that when a child is ready, he/she may show you subtle clues (or not so subtle) such as taking off diaper, showing interest in the potty, telling you when he/she is wet, and even can tell you when they want to potty.

You can spend tons of money on the potties that make music or whatever, but i woulod not suggest it. The reason i say this is that when they are on the small potty, if the get a rewarding sound, it doesnt happen on the real toilet and they make get confused. I say go with you run of the mill 10 dollar potty you can get from say wal-mart or target.

There are several ways you can go about showing your daughter how to use the toilet. I say get a few books about potty training, read them to her. You can get videos, dolls that wet, or take her in the bathroom with you (only if comfortable-some parents arent ok with this). I say just keep showing her the potty, talk about it and tell them that it is for big girls.

Once you get your daughter to begin training, it is always important to keep on encouraging her to go, praise her when she stay dry, and help her to clean up if she doesnt (dont do it for her, let her help).

Good luck on potty training! Patience is the key! Congratulations on your baby!birth of your daughter!

Don't start potty training untill ur daughter shows signs that she wants to be potty trained. Some signs are telling you when she has to use the bathroom, taking her diaper off when it is wet. It really doesnt matter what kind of potty chair you get just get something that will encourage your daughter when she is ready to start. Potty training books help too. I hope that helps!

A funny story for you.I am also (almost)31 but am a mom of three.(2,5,&10)When I wastraining my daughter,(she was 18 mos.) she told me she had to go.So I told her,"O.k. honey go on your chair."So she did just that. The kitchen chair that is.#1 and #2! I have started at 16 mos. for my first two.But my third(and last) will be two in Aug. and only plays around with the idea.Believe it or not, they are actually right when they say every child is different. As far as the potty, get one that isn't too much fun(with music, bells and whistles) and make sure the seat can come off to put on the big potty so she can get used to it.Good luck and remember,as long as you are consistent, she will eventually go.

You can purchase a potty seat he can use at the grownup potty, or you'll be able to make him use the baby. Either method you can more often than not ought to keep in the toilet with him till he is going for the primary few months of potty coaching. Don't assume him to be ready to head in there and maintain it himself. Grab a e-book and plant your self till he is going. Don't make it demanding. You can present a present of a few sort if he makes use of both potty (like 2 m&m's). Be sufferer even though he is not and do not fear. Training takes time.

about the age of 2 buy a potty now and let her get used to seeing it around and buy pullups so those aren't a shock either. When you go potty take her with you get her to sit on her potty too..

a baby usally potty trains before the age of 2 1/2 if you are a stay at home mom, u can probably do it sooner. if you are a working mom, just do as much a possible. just think of it this way you want to change diapers as much as ur child wants to be in onw. "am i right or am i right"

One man's cheesecake is another man's muffin - its all geometrical, yet merely microscopical. However, a cheesecake is relative to the amount of cheese in the cake. I really hope this answers your question, and good luck with the potty training.
