October 26, 1927 was a Wednesday. I did this in my head as follows:
y = 27, mod 7 = 6 (*mod means divide by 7 and take the remainder)
leap years = 27/4 = 6 (ignore any fraction)
century offset = 1 (1700 = 5, 1800=3, 1900 = 1, 2000 = 0, then it repeats)
Total so far 13, but mod 7 = 6
Then I memorized these numbers: 622 504 513 624
The 10th number (October) is the first number in 624 or 6.
Add this to the prior number:
6+6 = 12, but mod 7 = 5
Add the day (26) = 31, but mod 7 = 3
0 = Sunday
1 = Monday
2 = Tuesday
3 = Wednesday
...
6 = Saturday
So October 26, 1927 was a Wednesday.
You can do this in your head if you practice... good for impressing your friends when you can tell them the day they were born.
Monday's child is fair of face.
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe.
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving.
Saturday's child works hard for his living.
The child that is born on the Sabbath day
is great, and good, and fair, and gay.
According to the poem, you would be 'full of woe', but you can't subscribe characteristics to the day you were born any more than you can the 'zodiac' sign. There's no science to it, so I wouldn't worry about being 'full of woe'. You've gone this many years without even knowing, so it can't matter.
