Hi! I love stillness. Sometimes an outer stillness triggers an inner stillness. Having still moments is almost essential for my well-being. Just to have time away and ponder n reflect n get quiet is so necessary these hectic days and in this noisy world. In stillness we can sometimes get glimpses of the divine.

I know people who always have to be surrounded by noise. Even if they're alone with nothing to do they will have the t.v on or the radio blaring away. They might not even be watching the t.v or hearing the radio but it's on. Good question!

I'm not fond of chronic noise. I need a fair amount of quiet time during the day and enjoy nature. Some people are very irritated by noise and I'm one of them, although I enjoy a good concert or CD once in a while. We live in a noisy area, but this is where we're employed. I'd rather live in the mountains with a lake view.

When I am reading a serious novel, I like quiet so I can concentrate on what I am reading and lose myself in that world. I also must have quiet when I am sleeping.

Otherwise, I like to have my radio on to hear music - I don't like noise, but music is really necessary to my well being.

No, I am mistaken - there is a noise I like - sometimes, I hear the children playing and I like the noise they make because it seems to me to be a happy, fun noise - the children are having a good time and enjoy being with each other.

It depends of the day I had....if I have had a really stressful day/week at work.. I don't like a lot of noise around me. I would prefer some peace and quite for a little bit or have relaxing music on will taking a bath.

If I'm in a really high energy, happy mood yeah I blast my car radio or at home and just rock out!!

I enjoy stillness, Caroline.

I not only don't have to have noise around me all the time, but I can't stand noise, when I'm not well or when I'm well...;) NO noise, please!! :p

When I need to concentrate, to work or study or write, I prefer silence.

Silence also to read and to sleep.

I love music, almost all kinds of music, depending on my mood, and I especially love classical music. But there are moments when even tranquil music is too much for me and I need to be quiet, as much as I can.

Good question! See how people are so different one from the other?

myself i enjoy total stillness so u can tune in with the sounds of mother nature and really hear the wind blow though the leaves on a tree limb ,listen to the birds singing in distance trees, the crunching noise that leaves make as animal is running in the woods, the call of a hawk as he flys in the blue sky, the sounds of the water as it runs pass trees, logs and stones in the river bed, to hear a small bug crawling on the leaves just in front of you as sit on an old downed tree on a river bank deep in the woods and if ur really listen u can hear a car go by or a train whistle in the distance ..now that is peaceful.

I grew up in the mountains and it was absolutely quiet at night. Then when I moved to the city, there was so much noise I couldn't sleep for a week until I started getting used to it. My friend, the opposite, grew up in the city and when she came to stay with me in the mountains, couldn't sleep because it was so quiet. I guess it really depends on what you're used to. Different for everyone.

I don't believe there is any true stillness ... there's always noise around us ... the quiet flicker of the candle, the rain on the grass ... it's the sound of life.
