As mucus sits around in your nasal passages it dries up and oxidizes, turns yellow indicating old mucus. Mucus turns green when there is an infection. Green boogers are therefore very old mucus deposits and your sinuses are favorable for bacteria.

depends on the carsonegens in your uluptis. most people's boogers come from the dust particles your nostril hairs attach to. in dirty cities (london, la, etc) your boogers are black because of the air quaility.
