Why is my Nikon coolpix3200 determined to make Quicktime movies?

My Nikon Coolpix3200 seems to shoot only in Quicktime format.. but I want Windows Media Player.. how do I make the camera do that, or how do I convert those files?? All my friends use Windows Media Player.. besides I want to do some editing too... HELP ME PLEASE

No need to convert.

The files it saves are probably .avi (IIRC). I'm guesing you have the properties set wrong on your PC.

In 'file explorer' or ' my computer' RIGHT CLICK on the file you wish to play - then 'OPEN WITH' pick WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER and TICK the bottom box "Always use this program..."

Should have it sorted.
