Okay well I used to go to Cypress Elem. School and I was very happy there, but my new school is huge and I am so scared! At my old school I knew everyone and had lots of friends and was very comfortable there. But now I am scared not only is this a middle/high school but it is completely different. How do I overcome this fear. My boyfriend says not to worry but I don't care, I'm scared!

You will be fine. You will make many new friends and get to see the friends you already have. My kid finished the first year of middle school with lots of new and wonderful friends. Find a buddy (like your bf) to hang with while you are getting settled.

If you can, go to the school and take a tour with your folks. Most middle schools have some kind of orientation day. Go to the school's website and see if there is one scheduled.

When school starts, try to keep your stuff neatly organized. You might want to carry a map around the first week. Keep it in your pocket so you can get to it quickly. During lunch or breaks, if allowed, walk around the campus with a friend.

The teachers should be pretty easy-going the first week. They understand.

Good luck.

Just remember, all the kids in your grade are just starting middle school too. They are probably all nervous. My son started Jr. High last year, and we found that the school does a really good job of helping out the younger students. They usually will let you come into the school before school starts, and let you look around, try your locker combination, check where your classes are, etc. You will be surprised at how quickly you get used to the routine of your classes. You will make lots of new friends, and have a great time!

I recommend getting involved immediately in some activities where you will get to know a bunch of kids right away and have a "home base" that feels safe and comfortable to you. Some possibilities are music, drama, athletics, etc. Sometimes there are even camps or orientations for these during the summer before school starts. That could help you calm your fears.

Be confident. The first day of school, everyone is gonna be really really scared, even if they dont show it. If you show up the first day freaking out, shy, nervous, and scared everyone will think you are some kind of baby. Even though they are scared too. SO show up confident, calm, cool and collected and other people will admire you and be attracted to you (not that that, I mean like they will want to be your friend)

Dont stress it. Everything will fall into place. Just dont be nervouse, be confident, but dont let it go to your head.

I was freaked out when I changed from a small town middle school to a big city high school. But, you will find your circle of friends and the amount of other kids there won't matter, because you will have your friends with you.

Middle school is fun you have nothing to worry about trust me I just left middle school (8th grade) and now i'm going to high school (9th grade). Especially when you have your friends. Just go back to school on the first day with your head held high and be proud that you made you this far.

It is really not a big deal...... Teachers do a really good job of helping you adjust when you go to a new school b/c they know that you are nervous and need help getting around and getting used to it.. Just ask somebody you know there for help

You'll get used to it in time. Give a take a couple of weeks and it will feel normal again. As for friends, you'll get to know more people. It will just take time.

Good Luck.
