Well as your screen name suggests I would recommend any album by the men that make up the former group the Highwaymen: Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. All are amazing singer/songwriters.
I would also recommend Townes VanZandt, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Hank Sr., Shooter Jennings, Marty Stuart, etc.
Also if you've never heard John Prine do yourself a favor and pick up one of his albums-very entertaining. He's one of the most creative songwriters I've ever heard.

Hey there, some of the older Reba McEntire albums are very good, but you have to like the traditional country music. Also, try Terri Clark, Shania Twain, etc.
