Where does the "Dead" come from?

It has to do with Davy Jones, the bad guy, and his chest, meaning small trunk or box.
Davy Jones is the Captain of the Flying Dutchman and he is dead, he cut his heart out of his chest and hid it in a "chest" then burried it.
Jack Sparrow wants to find it to black mail Davy Jones so that he doesn't have to forefit his life and spend a hundred years as crew on the Flying Dutchman.
Why don't you just watch the movie yourself and find out the answer for yourself?

Davy Jones & his crew are all dead, and the chest contains something important to Davy. Were ya asleep during the movie??

well i haven't seen it yet...
but i'm pretty sure they mean chest as in a treasure chest of sorts...(or from reading i get that it's a chest davy jones keeps his heart in)
and it belongs to the dead men
it's a dead man's chest...it's not the dead chest of a man
I think it's read "dead man's" (posessive) chest
Not as...dead "mans chest" (or a dead chest of a man)

it means chest like treasure chest and the chest belongs to the dead davy jones

Captain Jones. his undead heart was in a chest. since his heart was not in his body he is technically dead, and its his chest.

Well because the flying dutchman was dead cuz he didnt have his heart. he was a zombie thing. i asked the same question but my bro told me.
