Recommendation please :
Love to hear your experience from Vegas to Grand Canyon. By coach or Heli. Landing or not landing ?

We took a helicopter from Vegas to Grand Canyon ... it was really neat. Stopped at a ranch and had lunch, took a ride on a horse, then flew back.
We also took a bus tour over from Vegas. It was long day, but we stopped to eat on the way over. We were only at the Grand Canyon for about 1½ to 2 hours, but got to see some cool stuff.
Next time I want to drive over so I can go to different points once I get there.

The drive to the Grand Canyon is 5 long hard hours on mostly two lane roads with trucks and campers (only a short way on I-40). You can drive there and back in one day if you leave early morning, like 6:00-7:00 AM. That will put you there about noon and you will have 4 or 5 hrs before starting back and getting back to Vegas about 11:00PM. I recommend staying overnight at the Canyon (there are plenty of motels near there, like Best Western, Ramada, Quality inns) and drive back the next day.

What part of the canyon? West Rim or South Rim.
South Rim is an all day coach rise with only two hours at the rim.
West Rim is 9 hours max and is more rustic and adventurous.
Heli can go down into the canyon to a boat on the Colorado River

DO NOT GO COACH!
It is about a 16hr day trip and the buses are full of seniors that are afraid to fly.
Been there done it and would never again do it.
Grand canyon is beautiful but I found myself wishing I was going back on the helis with the cool people my age when I left.
Oh definatley land , If your gonna do it do it right.

I took a bus tour. The Grand Canyon is absolutely breathtaking! If you can afford to, take the helicopter tour...it's just as good if not better than the bus tour and it's much shorter...you'll be back in vegas in no time, whereas with the bus tour, it took ALL DAY!!!
