Grapefruit Tree?

Question

I've got some seeds of grapefruit and I want to plant them on my yard. We have no grapefruits here although is a tropical country. Shall I plant the seed on a pot first or just put into the ground.

it will not grow as a grapefruit but as a wild citrus
