Why do so many people hate on Rap. Maybe you don't like it but you don't have to bring it down due to generalisations you make by watching MTV, BET and that kind of crap. ITs like if i went and said guns'n'roses and all the crap that sounds like that sucks without even knowing what it is. You don't have to like it but don't just go around saying you HATE something you dont know

Dont tell me 98% is crap when all most of yuo heard was the two percent and half those posts just validate my point. Also dont tell me all that heavy metal telling people to cut themselves and incite desctructive behavior is much much better

Clarification - This isn't rap music anymore. Rap had passion, purpose, meaning behind it. It wasn't all about which girl had a big *** and put out at a whim, and how much money you had. It was about living a rough life, being run down by other people, and fighting against it. Real rap music was Biggie, Tupac, Public Enemy...not 50 Cent and Chamillionaire. I don't give a rats *** if anyone sees you ridin' dirty or in da club. Your "music" is meaningless. I can say I hate "new rap", because it truly sucks. It has lost the idea behind it, and with it, any value it had as a musical piece. Don't give me the "but it has a good beat" argument...rap was never about original beats...thats why almost all rap beats are borrowed from other songs.

maybe its just the mainstream, but hiphop and rap:degrade women, glorify violence and other criminal acts, excessively co-opt tired cliches from former hits ("wave yo hands in da air"-PULEEEEEZE!), and encourage the destruction of the english language. Additionally the emphasis on "bling" (more linguistic nonsense) makes the whole shebang look like minstrelry. How about positive imagery instead of songs about selling drugs, shootouts w/ police and gang, and knocking up chicks? maybe then it will be taken seriously.

Rap music is like military intelligence - an oxymoron that a moron might listen to. Rap is crap. Sure, I won't get 10 points on this one, but that's fine.

Because it degrades women and black people! It classifies them as undereducated.

The state of hip hop today makes Black people look bad.If you listen to the lyrics and see the videos,98% of if is pure garbage.It's no wonder people think Black people are ignorant.
