The question have two aspects. An individuals greatest lesson of his life. In this context i would say that every passing second and moment will never come again. The other aspect of this question is generality of life and its greatest lesson. The life of other animals and human are totally different because the humanity is to live for others and animals lives for their own.

To get out of a relationship that isn't working and not keep hanging on. I was in a 9 1/2 marriage to a man who wasn't my "soul mate" and didn't have the same core values as I did. The marriage should have ended after the first year but I believed that I was married for life and did all I could to hold it together even though we kept breaking up because he cheated on me. Once he was gone for good I felt as if a huge weight had been lifted and I was happier than I had been in a long time.

Now I am married to a man who treats me so much better and we have the same values and outlook.

That in every moment, every relationship, every job, every action there is actually a lesson to be learned that only you can decipher. No one can hand you the lesson on a silver platter. And "knowing" something doesn't make the lesson learned, the actions you take afterwards are the only thing that counts. I am currently in the process of learning how to be patient and kind to myself. It's a tough one. Sometimes it takes years for the lesson to really sink in and adhere to your personality. Repitition is the key. "The proof is in the pudding". (Oh, and "always get it in writing :)

I would have to say that the greatest lesson I have learned is that everything is truly in God's control. We need to thank Him everyday for allowing us the opportunity to grow!

Patience. Getting married to the man I was looking for happened late in life. Going through years of infertility treatments and a very long adoption process is a true lesson in patience. You realize through trials and tribulations that things will happen in time. Just not YOUR time.

Life isn't fair.

For every action there is either a reward or consequence.

Time does not heal all wounds; Love does.

Sometimes you're the windshield; Sometimes you're the bug.

Life: It's not a dress rehearsal.

If you want to see God laugh, tell Him you have a plan.

God answers ALL prayers; Sometimes the answer is no.

I have three that I can think of right now....
1. Don't ever think that you got the world by the tail because something will snap it right out of your hands

2. Don't ever think you can't find love...because you can it's out there..took me 2 marriges to find that out
3 and don't stay with someone in a loveless marriage for the kids, because everyone will be alot happier without the problem

Its all state of mind. If you're very upset - just change your mind.

I know a guy that found out he was HIV positve. He went home, he looked in the mirror and said to himself: I'm alive today and I feel great. I'll be alive tomorrow and feel great. Why should I worry and posture with undue stress. I'm alive and I intend to enjoy every day.. End of story.
