Your absolutely right they're justified. And it's not like Israel plans attacks on civilians...it just so happens that the lebanese place themselves very close to areas with lots o civilianos....wonder why?

Ask yourself, by what events did the modern state of Israel even come to be created? The bottom line is that the state of Israel was created by force. Jews came back into the region colonized it, then took it over. So, of course most of us are on their side, because America did the same thing.
We cannot honestly look back at our own history and say, "We had a right to protect ourselves from hostile Native Americans!" Yet, it is quite true that that is how Americans looked at it when the past was the present. No, we know it is the other way around, the Native Americans had a right to protect themselves from us. They lost, and that's the only thing that makes it "right"
Israel is only "justified" because all of us still live by the maxim "might makes right".

I am on the side of the people, regardless of which government/religion/race the people might be associated with.
I cannot, under any circumstances, justify bombing civilians and civilian targets.
Both sides refuse to use diplomacy. Hezbollah and Israel truly believe that firepower and attrition will lead to victory.
Israel should be the good guy in this, but bombing civilian targets and attacking social infrastructure is no different than terrorists bombing civilian targets and attacking social infrastructure.
Someone will have to explain to me what the difference is: Israel attacks civilian targets and it is called "self-defense". Terrorist groups attack civilian targets and it is called "terrorism".
The outcome will be the same: the Israelis want to attack civilian targets with the belief that it will terrorize the population into submission. The various terrorist groups in that region want to attack civilian targets with the belief that it will terrorize the population into submission. When was the last time this worked?
Our American press says that this started when Hezbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers, but foreign press reports that what happened is unclear: why was Israel massing troops at the Lebanon border in the first place?
In reading all the press reports and eyewitness accounts, I don't know who started this latest round. Politicians are quick to point fingers because that is the only thing politicians are truly good at.
Killing civilians is wrong. When Hezbollah does it, they are evil. When Israel does it, they are in the right.
Wrong. One standard applies to all nations. Attacking civilian targets is either right or wrong. Attacking civilians is not right sometimes and wrong other times. One standard of conduct for all people.
Otherwise, morality becomes hard to define.
There are only losers in this conflict. Success will not be measured by military victories for either side, but by the ability of all sides to recognize their rights to respectfully co-exist, and in the context of the Israeli/Arab conflict, to recognize their closely shared history of religion, culture, and land.
Success will be measured by lasting peace, not lasting war.

NO one has the right to take a life, Liberty, Or pursuit of happines. That is what America was built on and that is the Democracy we need to spread. Taking lives is a crime no matter who does it to whom. Whether Jew or Jentile, A life is an infinitley precious thing. But we are looking at this from the wrong perspective. Hezbollah is supported by Iran. They are the ones runnig the show. Iran gave Hezbollah the rockets and wanted to start this whole thing just to take the focus away from their nuclear ambitions. And Israel fell for it. Forget Hezbollah, lets fix the problem where it starts.

No, what they're doing isn't justified. Defending your country doesn't have to include killing hundreds of civilians and occupying land, and its going to backfire. Of course, Israel shouldn't just lay down for anybody, and no one would argue that they've recieved unfair treatment by their neighbors since 1948 (putting it lightly). But their aggressive tactics are only making things worse. You think the muslims are ever going to back down after all that's happened? If anything, Israel is only helping Hezbollah gain support in the middle east.

I do! I could side with Palestine too, but over the years, I have never seen Palestine willing to compromise for the sake of peace. The Muslims seem to want to destroy Israel and nothing less will do. In such a case, I side with Israel. It has nothing to do with religion; it has to do with justice.

I definitely side with Israel. Have they once striked anyone for nothing? From what I know, they've only retaliated when attacked. And right now, they are defending themselves from their enemy. They are completely justified. *nods*

I side with you. If Mexico started sending rockets into El Paso would the U.S. just try to negotiate with the Mexicans? Israel has taken enough abuse from its belligerent neighbors.
