Yesterday, after posting an answer, I noticed the box awarded me three points for giving an answer.
What are the requirements to get three points. I didn't notice anything special about the question, nor was my answer unique.
Is there a way to continue to get three pointers? Or was this just some sort of a "lucky draw" that Yahoo awarded?

You get 2 points for answering and maybe, at that very same time, you were given a 'thumbs up' for one of your answers or you were given a point as a 'thanks for visiting'. Next time you are not sure, click on your name and it will take you to your history of answering and point awarding.

It didn't give you three points for the answer. If you had read the box you would have found that it did not say "because you answered a question". You either got 1 point for visiting and 2 for answering OR you got 1 point for a thumbs up rating and 2 for answering.

I don't think you ever get 3 points. Maybe someone voted your rated your best answer at the same time and you got the 1 point for that too.

The only time I got 3 points was when I chose a best answer.

If you happen to get a thumbs up to one of your best answers right after answering a question, you can get 3 points. That's happened to me before.
