I don't think the politics of grant funding is willing to accept competing theories at this time. I work at an observatory and to question Big Bang theory is to be labeled a heretic...though some will admit that Big Bang may not be correct at all but it's the best thing we can come up with given the observational evidence we have collected. The only other popular theory for creation involves divine intervention.

Big Bang = Let There be Light

Personally, I don't think it's an accident that the two theories sound very similar when stated in very basic terms. Many of the astronomers I work with attend church regularly and do believe in God...I think they see their work as figuring out how God did it.

You'll probably think I'm a freak but have you looked into creation theory lately? There are people doing serious scientific work and research in it and I find it fascinating. If you ever has a couple hours of free time explore this website

Creation? Creation suggests outside influence. You probably meant to say the beginning of the universe, but then by definition of the universe being all existence then there was no beginning nor will there be an end.
