There's a clip going around of a teacher combining liquids to make what looks like a giant marshmallow. Does anyone know how this is done and is it a marshmallow?

That is really wild. But I don't recommend trying to eat any of it.

From a quick look, it appears to be a polymer-generating reaction that releases a lot of gas, and that's why the "marshmallow" foam is formed. But if you look closely, there are at least three chemicals involved -- the clear material he pours into the tube, the brownish/yellow stuff in the bottom of the tube, and the red chemical which is probably an activator or catalyst.

Looks like it might be a polyurethane foam reaction, but I really can't say for sure without more info.

If it is a marshmallow than a lot of sugar was added to the mixture.

I don't think its a marshmellow. If you watch the video at the end you can see the substance start to shrink a little like its just foam or something. Would be freaking awesome if it was a marshmellow though!!
